Bolts, nuts, collars, gaskets, workshop chemicals… So-called C-parts (sundry manufactured parts) are components that have a low monetary value. But, as Goethe’s Faust best puts it: They are the stuff that holds together the inner workings of the (working) world – without them, ultimately nothing can be done in the workshop. So, naturally, short distances, the proper sorting, and the maintaining of complete stocks are the A and O; otherwise work processes would be obstructed in a detrimental way. At that stage a one-cent article could turn into a substantial cost factor. And the VARiable Order System itself can also be flexibly adapted, in terms of size and equipment, to the needs of the respective operation.
